Contents:
- 1 stainless steel garlic press
- 1 downlodable e-book
Background:
I have been making healthier choices when it comes to cooking in the kitchen. Yes my family is healthy, but when I started reading the ingredients, the added salts and other chemicals really scared me. I want my girls to eat healthy. One of the ways, I decided was to cut out salts and chemicals and try to flavor my foods using herbs and spices. So far garlic being the most popular.
I also let my girls help with the cooking so when they wanted to use garlic, at first I did a lot of peeling and chopping. When you cook all the time, this can be stressful and take away from the fun of cooking. I then got some garlic presses but they did not hold up. Some were so thin they did not crush the garlic while others were so weak they left half the garlic in the press. Another problem faced, many of the baskets were to small to fit the garlic into. Yes with a press I found myself cutting and chopping. Not good. When I got the opportunity to review the Propresser Garlic Press I was skeptical but decided to give it a try. My girls and I have been burned before and this was a great opportunity.
Design/Quality:
Made with a nice thick heavy duty stainless steel metal, the Propresser Garlic Press is really eye catching. The handles are nice and round and the basket used to press the garlic swings off the base for extra cleaning. It has a nice weight to it and will fit nicely into both the hands of adults and older kids. Basically if your child is five and under this garlic press might not fit. Like I said the handles are round and sturdy. Very good overall quality.
Performance:
Well surprise. This garlic press is amazing. I start off placing a whole garlic in the press. It not only fit, but I had garlic. I then added some garlic with the skin. This was the best part. When I was finished, I noticed the garlic had the same texture to it, but the skin was still in the press. This is amazing. My girls are great but chopping garlic with a knife is much. This garlic press gives them the ability to make and create in a safe way. My 11 year old can operate the Propresser Garlic Press issue free. I am thrilled. We love flavoring our foods with garlic and the Propresser Garlic Press really helps us out.
Healthy Recipes:
Salad Dressing:
1 cup olive oil
3 small cloves of garlic
1 small onion
1 pinch black pepper
2 pinches smoked paprika
In a bowl, mince the garlic and onion with the Propresser Garlic Press. add the olive oil and mix. The black pepper and paprika can be added to your individual families taste.
Although you can eat it as is, I like letting it sit in the fridge overnight in a glass dressing jar. The flavors need time to marinade. Drizzle over favorite salad and enjoy.
Spinach Stir Fry:
5 small cloves of garlic
2 small onions
1 bag fresh baby spinach (usually serves 6-8)
1 tablespoon canola oil
1 pinch pepper
Preheat the pan and add the oil. Once hot, directly over pan using your Propresser Garlic Press, mince the garlic and onions. This will take fast but keep them until lightly browned. Add the spinach and let it sweat out. Mixing every 1-2 minutes. This is up to you, but if you like your spinach firm, you can remove fast but if you like it mushy, let it sit longer. When you feel it is ready, add the pepper and sever. Makes a great side to any meat dish.
Botton Line:
With all the new healthy options my family has been making, using garlic as a flavor has been really popular. The Propresser Garlic Press has made this journey easier for myself as well as my girls. The garlic press not only presses the garlic, but I can throw in a whole clove complete with skin. It is alike a one movement deal. I really love the Propresser Garlic Press.
If you are a garlic lover, the Propresser Garlic Press is something you should consider adding to your kitchen collection.
